Being married to a soldier means I am always packing up and moving. Four times in the last 5 years. Taking my spice collection with me each move is important. Those spices get costly! As my collection grows, it just doesn't seem to fit into our Army housing cabinets. So we came up with this storage idea. I ordered these hexagonal jars with magnetic lids and these magnets from Amazon.
Then all you do is stick the magnet inside the lid, fill up the jars with your spices, and you are done! It's easy, convenient and pretty to look at too! I don't have these labeled yet. I use my nose to tell me what spices are what. But my hubby gets very confused. So I am thinking of getting some small round printable labels to put on the lid tops.
Love this idea, it would be great to hang somewhere by the stove on a metal board. thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteCute idea! They look great!
ReplyDeleteonly thing that concerns me is that your spices loose potency in the light... would need to keep them in the dark for this to work.
ReplyDeleteEasy fix, spray paint the outside and use sticky labels
DeleteI like the idea its really cute and practical. What size jars did you go with? Thanks
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Love It!

ReplyDeleteVery nice! Thanks for sharing your link. I love the shape of your jars, it is very aesthetically pleasing.. and it looks super fun to play with! Great minds think alike you know. :D
ReplyDeleteAwesome. What size jars did you use?
ReplyDeleteI'd also like to know what size jar you used??
ReplyDeleteIf you spray paint the outside of the jars and use labels on the bottoms you avoid the loss of potency to your spices.
